2 Days
Egypt
Overview
A two-day excursion to Cairo from Hurghada for tourists is less tiring than a one-day excursion to the capital of Egypt. But there were always few people willing to go on such an excursion, since tourists are limited by time and the diversity of their vacation.
And you begin your acquaintance with the history of Egypt by visiting the EGYPTIAN NATIONAL MUSEUM . In 1900, the French architect Marcel Dunon provided a building design for the museum and two years later construction was completed. The founder of this museum is Auguste Mariette. When entering the museum, on the left you can see his statue, which towers over his tomb. At the entrance to the museum, two statues are presented in front of you - these are symbols of Northern and Southern Egypt. And in the garden in front of the building you will see the obelisk of Ramses II and the Sphinx of Thutmose III, carved from red granite. The museum has more than 100 halls, which are located on two floors. On the ground floor at the entrance there are huge statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III and his wife Tia, then you will see Pharaoh Mikerin, Pharaoh of the III dynasty Djoser, sitting surrounded by the goddesses Hathor and Bat, there is a separate room dedicated to Pharaoh Akhenaten. Also on the first floor there is a huge number of funeral slabs, various figurines... The second floor attracts your attention with the golden room, where the funeral mask of Tutankhamun is located (any photography is prohibited in the golden room). On the top floor there are also three sarcophagi (one of which is gold and weighs 110 kg), you will see the gilded throne of Tutankhamun, as well as a large amount of jewelry, gold jewelry, sarcophagi. In the museum, after the guide's story, you will have free time - you can independently walk through the halls and examine in more detail the exhibits that interest you.
After visiting the museum, you are invited (optionally for an additional fee) to take a boat ride along the Nile and look at the capital from the side of the Great River. It will take 20-25 minutes, during which you can enjoy the view of Cairo. From Cairo you move to its suburb – Giza. But before visiting the pyramids, you will have lunch. Lunch at the restaurant (buffet). If you order any drinks during lunch, it is paid. And at the end of the first day Excursions you have a visit to the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx. And when you drive into the suburbs of Cairo in Giza, you just want to say: "Everything is afraid of time, and time is afraid of the pyramids." The Great Pyramids are the "calling card" of this country, located on the plateau in Giza. The pharaohs of the Old Kingdom built three huge tombs that are considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World preserved to this day. And one of the central ones is the Pyramid of Cheops – the largest tomb in the world. It is the only pyramid with corridors that lead both up and down. Its height was originally 146 meters, but now it is 139 meters.
The Pyramid of Khafre is located nearby, 200 meters from the main pyramid. Since it is built on the highest point of the plateau and a greater angle of inclination, it looks higher, although it is three meters lower than the pyramid of Cheops. Its height is 136 meters, the length of the sides is 210 meters. At the top of the pyramid, the white facing has been preserved. Inside, it has two corridors and two burial chambers, there are two entrances - the main one is at a height of 15 meters, and the second one is at the bottom.
PYRAMID OF MENKAURE – it is inferior in size to the listed pyramids. Its height is 66 meters, and the length of the side is 109 meters. It was built in 2504 B.C. Its cladding was made of pink granite, which was brought from Aswan.
At the pyramids, you are also given free time to take a photo or if you wish, for an additional fee, go down into the pyramids. After visiting the pyramids, you will find yourself at the foot of the Giza Plateau, where the funerary temples and the GREAT SPHINX are located. The huge Sphinx guards the pyramids and is located on the east side of the pyramid of Khafre. The Sphinx's gaze is directed to the east, to the first rays of the rising sun. It is a sculpture of a half-man, half-lion, with a height of 20 meters and a length of 73 meters. The sculpture is carved from a monolithic limestone rock, and the facial features resemble the appearance of Pharaoh Khafre. The Sphinx is often It was covered with sand and had to be periodically dug out.
And at the end of the tour, you are invited to visit the OIL FACTORY. You will be offered exquisite fragrances of perfumes from all over the world. After a busy first day, you will be accommodated in a hotel (usually 3* hotels in the pyramid area), where you will have dinner and breakfast the next day. And on the second day you go on another exciting journey, visiting places where there are only a few tourists...
In the evening you will be accommodated at the hotel and the next day early in the morning you will leave for Alexandria. The journey takes about 2.5 hours and you find yourself in a city that does not resemble the capital in any way. A completely different architecture of buildings, a rhythm of life...
